Adhesive Backed Materials Ltd (“ABM”, “we”, “us”) is a precision converter of adhesive-backed materials, foams, thermal products and EMI shielding, based in Tredegar, South Wales. We have been converting materials since 1993.

We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

1.2 What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.abmuk.net and in the course of quoting for and supplying converted parts, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.

When you request a quote

Our quote form asks for:

  • Your first and last name

  • Your email address

  • Your telephone number and company name, if you provide them

  • Technical details of the part you need — material type, thickness, dimensions, adhesive requirement, product format, application environment, and prototype and production quantities

  • Any files you choose to upload, such as sketches, DXF files, specifications or material data sheets (up to five files)

When you contact us directly

If you email or telephone us, we keep a record of that correspondence and any information you provide in it.

When you use our website

Our website is hosted on Wix. Wix sets a small number of strictly necessary cookies that keep the site working and secure. With your consent, we also use analytics and marketing technologies — these are described in our Cookie Policy.

1.4 How we use your information, and our lawful basis

We do not send marketing emails to people who have only requested a quote, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

1.5 Your drawings, specifications and technical files

Files you upload with a quote request — drawings, DXF files, specifications, material data sheets — are treated as commercially confidential. We use them only to prepare your quotation and, if you place an order, to manufacture your parts.

We do not share them with anyone outside ABM except where we need a material supplier's technical input to quote accurately, and then only the specific detail required. 

We are happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement before you send us anything. Just ask.

This list is complete and verified against the tracking technologies detected on our website. We do not use Meta/Facebook, TikTok, Yandex or any other advertising platform.

We may also share information where we are required to by law, or with our accountants and professional advisers where necessary.

1.7 Transfers outside the UK

Some of the providers above process information outside the UK. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the UK Government's adequacy regulations or by International Data Transfer Agreements incorporating the standard contractual clauses, which require the recipient to protect the information to a UK standard.

Quote requests usually form part of our general business correspondence, which we retain for six years to meet contract and tax record-keeping requirements. We also re-quote from earlier enquiries, so historic requests remain useful. You can ask us to delete your information at any time and we will do so.

1.9 Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you

  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete

  • Ask us to delete information where we no longer have a good reason to keep it

  • Ask us to restrict how we use your information while a concern is resolved

  • Object to us using your information on the basis of legitimate interests

  • Ask us to transfer your information to another provider in a machine-readable format

  • Withdraw your consent to analytics and marketing cookies at any time, using the privacy button on our website

1.10 Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.

1.11 Changes to this policy

We review this policy periodically. Where we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, ask for your consent again.
